St James' Hemingford Grey
                                    St James’ Church

Here we meet to worship, from here we go in love and peace to serve the world in the name of Christ.  The people of St James’ serve in many walks of life and in many countries of the world.

This blog is a place for me (the Vicar) to share some thoughts which I can only share with one or two but would like to share with more, especially the church family, and to invite others to do so too.  It is intended to encourage reflection on a life of faith in a world in which many do not yet know the Creator God and that he can be known by all people as ”my Father”. And also to think about what it is to be people of the Kingdom of God and how that affects our vision and values.  You may like to comment on my reflections or write your own under ‘Your Thoughts’ or share books or media that you have found helpful to a life as authentic disciples of Christ.

After many years as a paediatric healthcare professional since 1994 I have been an ordained priest in the Church of England.  Coming from a conservative evangelical background (if the label is of any help to understand my roots) my life was dramatically changed by encountering the real presence of God the Holy Spirit and knowing the Spirit’s power at work in and through me.

As I takes steps of faith each day so I am beginning to see that God is faithful in the commission of his son Jesus to those who would be his disciples.  Bascially his instructions are to go as people of peace, accept hospitality, minister to felt needs (heal the sick, feed the hungry, raise the dead, etc.) and declare “the Kingdom of God is among you.”  After these kind of encounters people are usually ready to hear about Jesus, ready to have the good news shared with them in words.
